B. What the Extension Accesses

On supported sites, the extension may automatically read relevant page content needed to power user-facing features such as match scoring and job-related assistance. Other features, such as refinement or generation tools, may be triggered by the user.

C. Why the Extension Accesses This Data

The extension uses supported-site content to:

  • analyze job-related information;
  • assist with resume tailoring and related workflows;
  • generate or refine user-requested content; and
  • provide Answerly features within the user’s workflow.

D. Local Storage and Cached Data

The extension may locally store:

  • Firebase authentication tokens;
  • temporary cached outputs; and
  • temporary settings or feature state.

Cached outputs may be stored for up to 24 hours for usability and performance purposes.

E. Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions:

  • storage — to cache Firebase authentication tokens and user preferences locally between page navigations;
  • cookies — to read and refresh Firebase authentication tokens, enabling the extension to authenticate API calls across page reloads;
  • downloads — to save AI-generated resume PDFs to the user's device when triggered from the extension panel; and
  • host permissions for supported job boards, career sites, and the extension's own backend services.

We request only permissions reasonably necessary for user-facing features. Chrome Web Store policy requires accurate disclosure of how extension products collect, use, and share user data and requires the use of minimum necessary permissions.

7. How Information Is Shared

We may share information with the following categories of recipients.

A. Infrastructure and Service Providers

We use service providers to operate the Services, including:

  • Google Firebase for authentication, hosting, database, storage, and related infrastructure;
  • Stripe for billing and payment processing;
  • Resend for transactional communications; and
  • third-party AI providers — Google Gemini (used for resume tailoring and LinkedIn optimization on the Free tier) and Anthropic Claude (used across all tiers for cover letters, interviews, messages, and emails) — for processing and generating requested outputs.

B. Legal, Safety, and Enforcement

We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or legal process;
  • enforce our agreements or policies;
  • investigate, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, or security issues; or
  • protect the rights, safety, property, or operations of Answerly, users, or others.

C. Business Transactions

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that process, subject to applicable law.

8. AI Processing

To provide Answerly features, relevant user content may be transmitted to approved third-party AI providers through their developer or business services.

Answerly does not use your data to train its own models. Third-party AI providers may process data subject to their own API, business, platform, and data handling terms. We encourage users to review the terms and privacy materials of those providers where relevant.

9. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide the Services;
  • maintain your account;
  • comply with legal obligations;
  • resolve disputes;
  • investigate abuse or security issues; and
  • enforce our agreements.

If you delete your account, we generally retain deleted account data for up to 30 days before permanent removal, unless we need to retain certain information longer for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or operational reasons.

10. Your Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or request information about your personal data.

You may:

  • manage some information in your account settings;
  • cancel subscriptions through your account settings; and
  • request account deletion by contacting us.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on certain requests.

11. Children’s Privacy

Answerly is not intended for children under 13.

Users under 18 may use the Services only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will review and take appropriate action.

12. International Use

Answerly may be accessible globally, but it is primarily configured for U.S. and global job seekers. If you use the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our providers operate.

13. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of storage, transmission, or security control is guaranteed to be completely secure.

14. Third-Party Sites and Services

The Services may interact with or link to third-party sites and platforms, including job boards, employer portals, LinkedIn, payment pages, and AI providers. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or practices of third parties.
